Allergies and Asthma

Allergy asthma pertains to the effect of allergens on the respiratory system that lead to asthma attack. There are no exclusions when it comes to allergy asthma since the environment today is not as pure as before.

Symptoms

  • difficulty breathing
  • wheezing
  • coughing
  • increased production of mucus during asthma attack

These symptoms may be fatal especially if they attack simultaneously. Asthma allergens block the airways which not only cause discomfort, but they also cause death to some patients who have severe symptoms.

Causes of allergy asthma

Allergy attacks are caused by allergens. In the case of allergy asthma, it is the allergens in the air and anything that a person can inhale, as well as the environment, can cause an asthma attack. Allergens such as chemicals, dust, smoke, scents/odors and changes in climate can trigger allergy asthma.

Some cases of allergy asthma are triggered by stress, emotional status and exhaustion. These are symptoms that can be quite unique to certain patients.

The most recognized factor that causes allergy asthma is smoke. The environment is quite polluted by smoke from various sources such as vehicle exhaust, cigarettes and industrial emissions. Today, allergy asthma has become one of the serious conditions that can strike children and adults alike. It may be also due to heredity, but with the kind of environment we have right now, the risk of developing allergy asthma is greater.

Treatment

Allergy asthma can be treated with medicines such as salbutamol, bronchodilators and antihistamines. These are either oral pills or inhalers or nebulizer-medicines.

It is also advisable to stay away from the causes of allergy asthma since allergens are lurking and just waiting for the next victim to inhale them.
