Allergies

Allergy is probably one of the world’s oldest condition that affects the immune system. There are many factors that cause allergens to attack the immune system, and two of them can be found on the environment and on the food we eat.

The body reacts to these changes, particularly if the human body releases histamines that are triggered by allergens from various substances. Some people may call it a virus attack, but truly most of the allergy attacks come from allergens that lurk in the environment, foods and certain substances that the body is exposed to.

Fighting-off allergy with immune system boosters such as anti-histamine and leukotriene modifiers can help at the onset of allergy. Medication should be prescribed based on the type and severity of your allergy attack/s.

The most common symptoms of allergy attack is sneezing, swelling of the mouth and tongue, itchy red skin, vomiting, respiratory problems [i.e. problem breathing, wheezing, blockage of the airway due to swollen tubes], nausea and runny nose and eyes. If you encounter at least one of these symptoms, don’t hesitate to go to the nearest hospital for immediate relief.

There is no telling when an allergy will go away for good. Most people carry their allergies for life, while some can outgrow them as they come of age.

It is advisable to take allergy test if you suspect an allergy attack. You’ll never know what an itchy red rash is until you have it tested for allergy. Some people take tiny red rashes for granted and end up in the emergency room when things go wrong after a few days. There are certain allergies that are quite fatal if left unchecked and untreated at the onset.

Today’s illnesses such as allergies are evolving due to the changes in the environment and the food we eat. There are harmful chemicals in the atmosphere as well as in food, so it is important that we take care of our health both inside and out to ensure that a simple allergy will not become a full-blown disease later on.
